Most of the collection consists of the personal and business papers of individual family members such as Robert Alexander (1767-1841), R.A. Alexander (1819-1867) and his estate, Alexander J. Alexander (1824-1902), Lucy Fullerton Alexander (1845-1909), Alexander J. Alexander (1875-1929), Kate H. Alexander (1882-1936) and Alexander J. Alexander (1907-1969). Collection also includes materials related to the running of Woodburn Farm, the horse industry, John Savary, Lucas Brodhead, politics and land holdings in Great Britain and the United States.
